Experience
I tutor math, environmental and Earth science, Spanish, and biology among many other subjects. The moments when students get the material you're covering are so important in the learning process. That's why I'm so passionate about tutoring. I strive to help more people find those "a-ha" moments of clarity no matter the subject. It gives them more confidence in their abilities and to succeed. As a tutor, I give students tools and skills to learn and understand things without being told what to do. I'm always patient and attentive. Practice to perfection is something I teach. They should get used to re-doing problems until getting them right the first time. That means they completely understand the material. If I ask "does that make sense?" it means I really want to know they truly understand. A junior at Brown University, I am pursuing a B.A. in Environmental Studies, with a focus on Sustainability in Development. The first time I tutored was in El Salvador, on a mission trip, and I was a peer tutor in high school. I also taught kids in a community outreach program in Providence, Rhode Island. In my downtime, I enjoy art, photography, sailing, gardening, and composting.
